The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (L.A. Metro) has begun construction on the $898.6 million Airport Metro Connector project.

The project will connect the county's transit system to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The project will result in the ninth station along the 8.5-mile Crenshaw/LAX Line that's currently under construction. L.A. Metro’s Crenshaw/LAX is one of 12 transit projects funded by Measure R, the half-cent sales tax approved by Los Angeles County voters in 2008.

Planned for completion in 2024, the new connector hub will include platforms to access L.A. Metro light-rail trains and an 16-bay bus plaza that will serve L.A. Metro and other municipal bus operators in the region.
