The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (L.A. Metro) yesterday launched a new webpage with information and data about the transit agency's safety improvement initiatives and results.

L.A. Metro developed the "safety hub" with input from passengers and the agency's public safety advisory council, said L.A. Metro officials in a press release. The webpage will be updated regularly with data on security activity, reported crime, ridership and other key metrics, with context to explain trends.

The safety hub also connects users to the L.A. Metro public safety dashboard, which provides riders timely data about security, crime and response times. The dashboard was developed under the transit agency's public safety analytics and bias-free policing policies, said L.A. Metro officials.

"By making this information readily accessible, we are empowering our riders and the public with a transparent look at our progress and the actions we’re taking to build a safer transit system for everyone," said L.A. Metro Chair Fernando Dutra.

L.A. Metro operates four light-rail lines and two subway lines, as well as bus services.
