The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (LA Metro) board last week released an updated draft of its 2020 Long Range Transportation Plan, a $400-billion, 30-year transportation blueprint for Los Angeles County.
The plan outlines what LA Metro is doing currently to address transportation challenges, and what the agency must do over the next 30 years to plan, build, manage and maintain the region’s transportation system.
The draft includes plans to expand its overall system by 100 miles over the next 30 years and invest in new mobility options such as microtransit and freight-focused technologies, agency officials said in a press release.
It also includes plans to invest over $200 billion for operations and state of good repairs.
LA Metro will gather public comment on the plan through July 13 by mail, phone or email.
The board is expected to adopt the final plan in late summer.
