The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) partnered with the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) to expand its Metro Bike Share network by 40 stations and expand into central Los Angeles.
The expansion is an effort to improve first and last mile journeys for Metro riders. Station locations, which can be viewed on the Metro website, were based on community feedback and input from neighborhood organizations.
"Well-designed stations anchored to transit hubs are the foundation of true choice and a commonsense solution to help ease congestion," LADOT General Manager Seleta Reynolds said in a press release. "Metro bikeshare has an exemplary safety record, like docked bikeshare around the world. We are proud of our investment in safe, equitable choices for everyone in Los Angeles."
The Metro Bike program is administered by Metro in partnership with local agencies, including LADOT and the Port of Los Angeles. It is operated by Bicycle Transit Systems Inc.
