The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) last month released the draft environmental impact statement/report (DEIS/R) for its West Santa Ana Branch Transit Corridor (WSAB) project, a planned 19-mile light-rail line that would connect southeast Los Angeles County to downtown L.A.
Now, the authority has extended the public review and comment period for the DEIS/R from Sept. 13 to Sept. 28. Metro also has added three new virtual community information sessions to be held on Aug. 16, 21, and 26 to discuss property acquisitions, the relocation process and timing, and traffic, noise and safety.
The new WSAB line would serve Artesia, Cerritos, Bellflower, Paramount, Downey, South Gate, Cudahy, Bell, Huntington Park and Vernon, California.
Metro is evaluating the feasibility and potential benefits of delivering the project through a public-private partnership program.
