L.A. Metro lands state grant to install electric car chargers
advertisement
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority recently received a $415,000 energy grant from the California Energy Commission to entice electric car drivers to use Metro rail stations.
The grant will fund a pilot project through which the agency will assess the feasibility of installing electric vehicle plug-in chargers at stations. Currently, four electric vehicle charging bays are available at Union Station in downtown L.A. Those chargers would be upgraded while chargers also would be installed at the Universal City station on the Metro Red Line, Sierra Madre Villa terminus station on the Gold Line, LAX/Aviation station on the Green Line and Canoga station on the Orange Line.
