The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) will suspend weekend service on the Green Line between Crenshaw and Redondo Beach stations to begin testing rail system software on the connection between the Green and Crenshaw/LAX lines.

Beginning July 12, the service will be suspended every Friday night, then resume every Monday morning until work is completed sometime in the fall. The whole process may take more than 10 weekends, LA Metro officials said in a press release.

Construction on the connection between the Green and the Crenshaw/LAX lines began last January when tracks were installed, followed by the installation of overhead power lines.

The Crenshaw/LAX Line is an 8.5-mile light-rail line that’s currently under construction. The line will serve eight new stations in Crenshaw, Inglewood and Westchester, and at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
