LACMTA launches environmental study for Westside subway project
advertisement
This month, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) will conduct a series of public meetings to review the Westside subway extension project.
The meetings kick off the Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report process, under which the authority will analyze a Wilshire Subway that wuld extend the Metro Purple Line via Wilshire Boulevard, and a Wilshire/West Hollywood Subway that would incorporate all of the Wilshire Subway, as well as a spur from the Metro Red Line in Hollywood via Santa Monica Boulevard. LACMTA also is considering "no build" and "Transportation Systems Management" alternatives.
The project will be funded in part through Measure R, the half-cent sales tax increase approved by voters last November.
