The Utah Transit Authority recently awarded a $17.9 million contract to L.B. Foster Co. and subsidiary CXT Inc. to provide 11,000 tons of steel rail and 110,000 concrete ties for the authority’s new commuter-rail line between Weber County and Salt Lake City.

L.B. Foster will deliver continuous-welded rail and ties via Union Pacific Railroad’s Salt Lake subdivision in November and January, respectively. The supplier will manufacture ties at its Spokane, Wash., facility.
