MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) President Phil Eng yesterday announced that LIRR has activated WiFi in the Atlantic Terminal and cell connectivity for Verizon subscribers in the tunnel between Atlantic Terminal and Bedford Avenue.

LIRR expects to add cell connectivity in the Atlantic Avenue Tunnel for subscribers of other carriers, extend the connectivity to the LIRR’s tunnel between East New York and Jamaica, and activate WiFi in the LIRR’s Jamaica station, according to a news release.

"As customers continue to return to the system in the aftermath of the pandemic, they’ll be greeted with modernized infrastructure and tools, including our world class app and enhanced connectivity," Eng said.

In the months aheadm LIRR plans to continue innovating and expanding WiFi capabilities to eliminate remaining dead spots throughout its system and across carriers, he said.
