LIRR implements WiFi at Penn Station
advertisement
MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) passengers now can connect to the Internet while waiting for trains at Penn Station.
The railroad recently added wireless fidelity (WiFi) service to the station’s waiting room as part of a larger program to improve communications for passengers.
Last year, LIRR placed six large, flat-screen message boards throughout the terminal to display real-time information about service disruptions. And next month, the agency plans to issue cell phones to more than 1,000 train crew members so they can provide commuters with up-to-date service information.
