MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) this week will renew the William Floyd Parkway grade crossing in Shirley, N.Y.

The work includes rehabilitation of the concrete crossing surface, as well as the tracks, LIRR officials said in a press release. Crews also will renew ballast and adjacent concrete ties.

To make way for the repairs, a portion of the LIRR's Montauk Branch will be taken out of service, with buses scheduled to substitute trains. The work will occur May 12-14.

The project is being done in coordination with local elected officials and public agencies, including the New York State Department of Transportation and MTA's police department.
