LIRR records best on-time performance in first quarter

MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) posted a record first-quarter on-time performance (OTP) of 96.17 percent for all trains.
Systemwide, OTP exceeded 96 percent during the quarter, LIRR officials said in a prepared statement. LIRR also achieved a 100 percent OTP for 16 rush-hour trains.
The agency attributed the record performance to improved fleet reliability as demonstrated by a record-breaking level of mean distance between failures, and a new focus on inter-departmental analysis of events resulting in five or more late trains, LIRR officials said.
