LIRR revises fare structure, discount programs
advertisement
On May 1, Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) plans to implement a new fare structure to preserve or enhance multi-ride discount programs and maintain service levels.
One-way ticket fares would increase about $3 if purchased onboard rather than at LIRR ticket windows or ticket machines. Also, monthly ticketholders who forget their tickets will be charged the onboard fare and no longer will be eligible for a refund.
Passengers using the Mail&Ride program would receive a 2 percent discount; passengers who purchase an unlimited MetroCard option with monthly tickets would receive a 9 percent discount.
Off-peak tickets would be available at up to 15 percent off, and a Ten-Trip ticket would be available to senior and disabled passengers instead of 10 one-way tickets.
