LIRR scores slightly higher rider satisfaction marks in 2007

MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) riders handed out slightly higher service grades in 2007 than in 2006, according to recently released results from a customer satisfaction survey taken last fall. Out of more than 11,000 responses, passengers rated their overall riding experience a 6.7 on a 10-point scale, a tenth of a point higher than 2006’s 6.6 rating and the second-highest overall rating since LIRR began surveying riders in 1991.
Overall on-board train service ratings went up from 6.6 in 2006 to 6.8 in 2007 — the highest-ever rating. Police presence at Penn Station received a rating of 7.7; crew courtesy, 7.6; boarding stations, 7.1; Jamaica Station, 7.0; Penn Station, 6.8; Flatbush Avenue Terminal, 5.4; and restroom cleanliness, 4.9.
