Amtrak recently appointed District Superintendent Kurt Laird to the newly created position of general superintendent of the Pacific Northwest division.
In the new position, Laird will oversee all transportation and mechanical operations, including maintenance of Talgo equipment, Amtrak Cascades service and the Sounder commuter-rail contract.
The position was created to strengthen Amtrak’s relationship with Washington and Oregon, said President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Boardman in a prepared statement.
