advertisement
The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) has named Shelly Lomax executive director of operations. The first female to head the agency’s operations division, she has served as interim executive director since January.
She will be responsible for all rail and bus operations and maintenance, as well as system safety and security, labor relations, facilities and planning. Lomax will oversee 2,100 employees and manage a $300 million budget.
Since joining TriMet as a bus operator in 1987, she has taken on positions of increasing responsibility, including director of safety and security, and director of operations support — the position she held prior to being installed in the interim post. During her TriMet career, Lomax has helped double the number of transit police, reduce crime on MAX lines by double digits in back-to-back years, and open three transit police division precincts and a central transit police precinct.
