MARTA seeks additional revenue sources to maintain service levels
advertisement
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) is preparing to change some services tomorrow. Due to a budget shortfall, the agency needed to tweak some service levels.
Service changes call for increasing train headways, eliminating 41 bus routes and modifying 71 other routes. In addition, bathrooms and ridestores will close and customer service center hours will be shortened.
In order to restore eliminated service or maintain existing service, MARTA is seeking additional operating revenue sources. ACT Now Georgia, a non-partisan coalition that advocates for public transit, believes a transportation referendum could provide additional sources of operating funds.
