MBCR boosted on-time performance in January

The Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad (MBCR) posted on-time performance of 93 percent last month, the second consecutive month MBCR achieved service benchmarks of 92.8 percent or better.

“MBCR delivered improved service by maintaining a sharp focus on locomotive reliability and higher levels of coach availability,” said Hugh Kiley Jr., MBCR’s general manager, in a prepared statement.

However, to maintain a high level of service, especially through the winter months, MBCR and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority purchased $500,000 worth of snow removal equipment and increased collaboration with communities to keep road salt away from grade crossings, MBCR officials said.
