advertisement
Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) recently broke ground on a $67 million project to rehabilitate three Red Line stations in Dorchester, Mass.
Head houses at the Savin Hill and Shawmut stations will be renovated or replaced, and the interiors cleaned and rehabilitated. The Fields Corner Station will be replaced, with rail service elevated to street level. Access improvements will be made at all three stations to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Community-based working groups, MBTA officials and state legislators helped design the stations.
