Yesterday, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) opened 200 new parking spaces in a lot adjacent to the Walpole commuter-rail station.

The lot now offers 580 spaces and features improved lighting, drainage, landscaping and signage.

The $2 million project is one of five parking expansion projects the authority plans to complete this year. MBTA also is adding parking spaces at the Gloucester, Lawrence, Westboro and Fitchburg stations.
