advertisement
Yesterday, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) broke ground on the $13.5 million Yawkey Station reconstruction project.
Once complete in 2012, the full-service, solar-powered commuter-rail station will feature full-length accessible platforms and enable MBTA to more than double service on the Worcester-Farmingham line from 17 to 40 stops per day.
The station reconstruction is part of the $450 million Fenway Center redevelopment project, which includes building more than 330 apartments, 370,000 square feet of office space, 150,000 square feet of retail space, 30,000 feet of park space and more than 1,000 parking spots.
