MBTA to consider single-person operator on Orange Line
advertisement
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is considering whether to expand single-person train operations (SPTO) to the Orange Line to cut operating costs.
The authority already uses SPTO on the Blue Line. The savings from the change would be reinvested in improving service frequency and alleviating crowding, MBTA officials said in a prepared statement.
The MBTA has scheduled three public meetings to discuss the change.
