MBTA to provide update on Green Line Extension

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) next week will provide an update on the Green Line extension project.

At a Dec. 7 meeting, residents will hear from the project's interim program management team and get a chance to provide comment, agency officials said in a press release.

The MBTA will introduce the project's new manager John Dalton, who was appointed to the position earlier this month. Staff also will discuss the Federal Transit Administration's requirements for the funding agreement, the project's upcoming environmental review and the timeline for selecting a design/build contractor.

The 4.3-mile extension will run northwest from downtown Boston into Somerville, Mass. In May, MBTA's board approved a scaled-down version of the project, which now includes a downsized vehicle maintenance facility and fewer station amenities.
