METRO receives nearly $30 million in federal funds
advertisement
Several projects are in the works for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) now that it has secured almost $30 million from this year’s Transportation Appropriations Bill, passed Feb. 13 by Congress.
The agency will receive $13 million in federal funds to pay for new facilities and transit improvements. METRO also was given the right to use a $16.7 million unspent grant earmarked in 1988 for a park and ride facility that was never built.
METRO plans to substitute new park and ride projects into the grant agreement.
