MTA Metro-North Railroad and Amtrak announced today they have suspended some operations in New York due to severe flooding.

Sections of Metro-North's Hudson Line north of Croton-Harmon have become impassable, Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials said in a press release. The commuter railroad suspended service between Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie until crews finish evaluating the damage and clearing the tracks of fallen trees, mud, boulders and water rising above the running rails. Some areas are being inspected for potential washout conditions.

More severe weather is expected tonight, causing repairs and debris clearing to be potentially delayed, MTA officials said.

Amtrak service between Albany and New York City also has been suspended temporarily so that Metro-North crews can repair track, Amtrak officials said in a service alert.
