Rail News: Passenger Rail

Maryland Transit Administration to expand quiet-car program

advertisement

On Sept. 2, Maryland Transit Administration plans to expand to afternoon rush hour trains a program enabling passengers to travel in a quiet environment.

The "quiet car" will be located closest to the locomotive. No cell phones or noise-making electronic devices will be allowed on the trains, and passengers will be discouraged from holding loud conversations.

The agency currently is improving signage to make the quiet car more visible.
