Rockville, Md.-based Automated Precision Inc. announced July 16 it supplied its Laser Tracker II System to Shanghai Maglev Transportation Development Co.
The magnetic levitation transportation system would require the manufacture and installation of 500 concrete guideway girders, each 78.7 feet long and weighing 175 tons; installation requires tolerances of less than 0.001 inch.
Laser Tracker II would be used to help ensure Shanghai Maglev achieves those tolerances.
