Maryland's MARC to install public-address systems
advertisement
Maryland's Board of Public Works recently approved American Recovery and Reinvestment Funds for the Maryland Transit Administration to install new public-address and customer information systems at MARC commuter-rail stations.
The $6 million project calls for installing audio systems and electronic message signs that will interface with the existing MARC TRACKER system so passengers can receive real-time train arrival information at stations. The systems also will be used to alert passengers of approaching trains, schedule changes and delay information, and safety messages. The new system will enable MARC operations staff to target messages to individual stations, providing customers with more specific information.
Baltimore's Intelect Corp. will begin installing the systems later this month.
