The Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Co. (MBCR) recently appointed Hugh Kiley Jr. as general manager. He will succeed Donald Saunders, who has served as MBCR’s acting general manager since March.
Kiley will oversee MBCR’s day-to-day operations and manage the strategic direction for the company, which operates the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s commuter-rail system.
He has more than 40 years of rail industry experience, most recently as assistant vice president of operations for Norfolk Southern Corp. Kiley previously was assistant vice president of transportation services for NS and held a variety of senior operating positions at Conrail, including VP of service design and planning, and general manager of Conrail’s national customer service center.
