The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) has appointed Neil McFarlane general manager. He will succeed Fred Hansen, who will leave the agency after 11 years of service when his contract ends in summer.
McFarlane currently is TriMet’s executive director for capital projects and has led the development, design and construction for the agency’s capital facilities since 1998. Prior to that, he was TriMet’s project control director for the 18-mile, $963 million Westside light-rail project.
“Neil knows our region and its leaders extensively, and has a track record for innovation and success,” said Board President George Passadore in a prepared statement.
McFarlane will begin to transition into the position on June 1, and start serving as GM July 1.
