Metra's board yesterday approved an $8.69 million contract with IHC Construction Cos. LLC of Elgin, Illinois, to renovate the 115th Street/Morgan Park Station on the Chicago commuter railroad's Rock Island Line.

Work on the station is expected to begin later in 2025, Metra officials said in a press release. The project calls for replacing the platform shelters, plaza and sidewalks. The renovation also will address stormwater management needs, resurface two parking areas and install new lighting.

IHC was selected after it submitted the lowest bid. Metra has set a goal for the project to expend 25% of the contract total on Disadvantaged Businesses Enterprises (DBE) firms. IHC has committed to the goal by hiring the following DBE firms as subcontractors.
