Metra adjusts track schedule to rebuild 22 bridges
advertisement
Metra recently revised its Union Pacific North schedule due to a major project aimed at rebuilding 22 aging bridges on the north side of Chicago. The project will require inbound and outbound trains to share a single track in the construction zone.
The schedule adjustments will minimize issues with crowding and delays, according to Metra. The agency removed stops from trains that were operating over capacity and added stops to trains that were under capacity. Metra also removed a train toward the end of the morning rush hour and added a train during a critical period during the evening rush hour, agency officials said in a prepared statement.
