Metra and Pace, Chicago's suburban bus system, will offer a new bus route that provides service between Metra's Esplanade and Belmont stations along the system's BNSF's line, Metra announced yesterday.

Route 465, as the new route is called, will offer four morning and three evening trips on the line.

For its part, Metra will adjust schedules of two of its BNSF Line trains to coordinate with the new Pace bus route.

"We are excited to work with all our public and private partners to offer this new commuting option, particularly for our reverse-commute customers expand," said Metra Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Don Orseno in a press release.

Chicago's Regional Transportation Authority will provide grant funding and planning assistance for Route 465.

The new route expands the Shuttle Bug program, which is a public-private partnership between Pace, Metra and the Transportation Management Association of Lake Cook.
