Metra puts out call for new police officers

Metra is recruiting officers to serve on its Police Department, the agency announced yesterday.

Metra will begin hiring some candidates immediately, in addition to creating a pool of candidates for future hires as part of its efforts to adopt best practices in policing, agency officials said.

New police officers will serve in northeast Illinois, specifically Cook, Will, DuPage, Kane, McHenry and Lake counties.

The agency is continuing its search until July 10.
