Metra will host holiday train rides on the Electric Line Dec. 3, 10 and 17.

The train will depart from University Park Station and make several stops on the way to Millennium Station in Chicago, where more holiday festivities will be held each day, Metra officials said in a press release.

Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased in person from ticket agents at several stations.

Metra will also donate tickets for the Dec. 3 train to the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago, officials said.

"We encourage everyone to climb on board and make Metra part of their holiday tradition," said Metra CEO and Executive Director Jim Derwinski.

Holiday trains are making a comeback this year after many freight and passenger railroads canceled their trips due to the pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
