Metra's new train station in Romeoville, Illinois, will open Feb. 5.

The station will be the first new stop on the Heritage Corridor Line since the railroad's formation in 1984, Metra officials said in a press release. Additionally, the station will be the first new stop on any Chicago-area Metra line since 2011.

The Romeoville Station will feature 123 parking spaces, with 23 set aside for reserved permit parking.

Funding for the $4.9 million station included more than $3.9 million in grants secured by Romeoville through the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement program. The village also secured another grant from the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program for pedestrian access from 135th Street to the station.

Metra broke ground on the station in May 2017.

The Heritage Corridor route runs on weekdays between Chicago Union Station and Joliet, Illinois.
