Connecticut officials recently announced MTA Metro-North Railroad and Shore Line East will begin operating additional commuter-rail trains in the state beginning April 1.

Metro-North will add five morning peak trains on the New Haven Line, provide additional mid-day and evening service, and reduce some travel times, while Shore Line East will provide new morning and evening connections to Stamford on Grand Central Terminal trains.

In addition, the railroads will add: an evening Grand Central Terminal Express train from New Canaan; an evening peak New Canaan train from Grand Central Terminal; a morning reverse peak and evening reverse peak train that will provide express service to and from New Canaan; a weekend late morning and early afternoon train between New Haven and Grand Central Terminal; and a Saturday night local train from Stamford to Grand Central Terminal.
