Metro Transit to review transit options for Midtown Corridor

advertisement

The Twin Cities' Metro Transit plans to host two open houses next week to review the Midtown Corridor alternatives analysis.

The agency is studying transit options for a corridor along the Midtown Greenway or Lake Street in Minneapolis. The alternatives analysis will help Metro Transit officials determine the benefits, cost and impact of operating transit service along the corridor. Streetcar, light-rail and bus rapid transit service all are being considered.

The Midtown Corridor is bound by the Blue Line, or Hiawatha, light-rail line to the east and the planned Green Line, or Southwest, light-rail extension to the west. The corridor would serve as an urban circulator, linking to the Uptown Commercial District, the Uptown and Chicago-Lake transit centers and Midtown Global Market.
