Metrolink's board last week approved a multiyear collective bargaining agreement with the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1277.

The new contract, which the union ratified Feb. 6, runs through Dec. 31, 2022. It contains "industry-leading pay and benefits" for 36 of the Southern California agency's dispatching supervisors, train dispatchers and communications coordinators, Metrolink officials said in a press release.

"We are gratified that Metrolink and our represented employees could reach an agreement that ensures continued safe operation for our riders,” said Metrolink Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Wiggins.

Metrolink operates 538 route miles in six Southern California counties. In addition to operating passenger trains, Metrolink each month dispatches more than 1,400 BNSF Railway Co. and Union Pacific Railroad trains.
