Metrolink plans to implement a 7 percent average fare increase across the system, as well as roll out service additions and schedule adjustments in July, agency officials have announced.

On July 2, Metrolink will add four round-trip weekend trains on the Orange County Line between Los Angeles Union Station and Oceanside, Calif. The agency’s popular seasonal beach trains will debut on July 7, operating between Oceanside and San Bernardino, Metrolink officials said in a prepared statement.

As for the fare increase, monthly pass holders will begin to pay higher fares when they purchase July passes starting June 15. Also, starting on July 1, the Amtrak 10-trip ticket no longer will be accepted on Metrolink trains as part of the Rail 2 Rail program, agency officials said. Metrolink and Amtrak monthly passes will be the only ticket types that will be valid for interchangeable travel between station pairs on a pass, they said.
