Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Metrolinx have issued a request for proposals (RFP) for a team to design, build and finance the GO Transit Milton corridor project.

The agencies submitted the RFP to three teams that were identified through an earlier request for qualifications process.

The three teams are Milton Transit Group led by Aecon Group Inc. and Buttcon Ltd.; Milton Integrated Transit Team, which includes AECOM; and Ledcor MM Partners, which is led by Ledcor Industries Inc.

The scope of the Milton corridor project includes building new Milton and Meadowvale GO stations, as well as renovating a vacant office and warehouse facility to accommodate future needs for GO operations.

"These station and operations facility improvements are integral to supporting increased service on the Milton corridor, and to making the transit experience better for our customers," said Metrolinx President and Chief Executive Officer Phil Verster in a press release.

The project is part of the larger CA$21.3 billion GO Regional Express Rail program, which calls for electrifying core segments of the GO rail network and boosting service frequency.

This week, Metrolinx and IO issued requests for qualifications for two other major GO RER projects.
