Metrolinx's new Kipling Transit Hub has been completed, Ontario officials announced yesterday.

The hub features more than 1,400 parking spaces and includes a 3,000-square-foot indoor waiting area with seating. The facility features 14 bus bays, 90 bike spaces and a new elevated pedestrian bridge that connects to a GO Transit train platform.

Ontario officials also announced that a contract valued at CA$729.2 million was awarded to West End Connectors to design, build and finance the tunnels for Metrolinx's Eglinton Crosstown West Extension project.

West End Connectors is a consortium that includes Aecon, Dragados Canada Inc. and Ghella. The scope of work includes the design and construction of launch and extraction shafts, tunnels and headwalls, the installation of precast concrete tunnel liners and other ancillary work.

Construction is expected to start later this year and be completed in second-quarter 2025.
