Metrolinx to improve Bloor Street GO Transit Station

Metrolinx plans to open a new drop-off area and pedestrian walkway at its Bloor Street GO Transit Station in Toronto.

The walkway will provide a connection for passengers coming from Dundas Street to the Bloor station's west tunnel and platforms, Metrolinx officials said in a press release. The west tunnel provides GO Transit and Union Pearson Express customers with elevator access to both platforms and features a ticket booth.

The improvements are jointly funded by the Canadian and Ontario governments. The federal funding comes from the Canada Strategic Infrastructure Fund as part of the Georgetown South Project. This project calls for infrastructure improvements along the Kitchener Corridor to accommodate both improved GO train service to Kitchener, Ontario, as well as the new Union Pearson Express.

"Giving our customers quick and convenient ways to get to and from our stations is an important part of the work we do," said Bruce McCuaig, president and chief executive officer of Metrolinx. "These upgrades are strengthening our connection with the local community and making it easier for people to take GO Transit and [Union Pearson] Express."
