Michigan agency to take on WALLY commuter-rail project
advertisement
Michigan's Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA) recently approved a resolution to serve as the designated authority for the proposed Washtenaw Livingston Rail Line (WALLY) project.
AATA now will complete the necessary environmental assessments for the 27-mile commuter-rail line, which would run between Ann Arbor and Howell along Great Lakes Central Railroad right of way. The authority also must determine capital and operating funding sources, and resolve insurance and regulatory issues.
The line is expected to cost $32.4 million to build. Annual operating costs are estimated at $6.3 million.
