The Metropolitan Council has appointed Patrick Born — currently chief financial officer for the city of Minneapolis — the new regional administrator.
The full Twin Cities-area council is scheduled to vote on Born’s appointment today. Born, who will succeed Tom Weaver, is expected to begin his new duties on Feb. 14.
Born will bring to the council diverse experience as an administrator, public finance expert and management consultant, said Council Chairwoman Susan Haigh in a prepared statement.
Born has been the Minneapolis CFO since 2001. He previously spent 19 years at Evensen Dodge Inc., a national financial advisory firm; a year as a senior consultant with Price Waterhouse & Co.; and six years at the state of Minnesota, including two years as director of financial management for the Minnesota Department of Finance.
The Metropolitan Council oversees the light-rail system for the seven-county Minneapolis area.
