Missouri legislature approves 'stabilization' funds for St. Louis Metro

Last week, the Missouri legislature passed a bill that includes $12 million in federal stimulus/stabilization funds for St. Louis Metro. The proceeds will enable the agency to restore some of the service it cut on March 30 and recall a portion of the operators who were laid off as part of the service reductions.

The agency originally requested $35 million from the state — enough to restore all of the service, which was cut to help Metro make up a $50 million FY2010 budget deficit.
