Mobile theater to teach Los Angeles County residents rail safety

Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) recently unveiled an interactive mobile theater designed to educate community members and school children on rail-safety precautions.

The theater is expected to be used extensively in Pasadena, South Pasadena, Highland Park, Lincoln Heights, Chinatown and downtown Los Angeles, where LA MTA is now testing Metro Gold Line trains before opening the new line this summer.

The line will operate between Los Angeles and Pasadena, Calif., where trains have not operated for years. A new generation of residents need to understand and adhere to safety precautions along the route, LA MTA officials said in a prepared statement.

The mobile theater has a 16’ x 9’ screen that can be used for 3-D projection, two large LCD projectors, surround sound and 4-D effects, such as wind, seat movement and strobe lights to simulate the operation of a train along an actual Metro Gold and Blue Line route.
