The Societe de transport de Montreal (STM) yesterday released its 2018 budget, which totals CA$1.4 billion.

The budget includes funds to boost subway service by more than 3 percent, which means trains will arrive at stations every 5 minutes on weekday evenings on all four subway lines.

"Excellence in mobility continues to be our ultimate objective and this year’s budget goes in this direction," said STM Chair Philippe Schnobb.

Other improvements include the introduction of 18 AZUR trains with added seating capacity and the commissioning of elevators at the du College and Honore-Beaugrand stations.
