MotivePower to supply locomotives for Albuquerque commuter-rail system

advertisement

Wabtec Corp. subsidiary MotivePower Inc. recently obtained a $12.7 million contract to build five commuter locomotives for Albuquerque, N.M.’s Mid-Region Council of Governments, which plans to build a commuter-rail line in the region.

MotivePower will provide its MPXpress® locomotives, spare parts and training. The units feature high-horsepower engines designed to increase acceleration, and reduce fuel usage and emissions. The locomotives also feature microprocessor controls and comply with the current crashworthiness standards.

To be delivered later this year, the locomotives will be manufactured at MotivePower’s Boise, Idaho, facility.
